Barrancabermeja, Colombia

Barrancabermeja is economically, and geographically, one of the most important towns in Colombia where there is the headquarters of Ecopetorol, the national oil company. Because the oil influences the civil war in Colombia, this town has been one of the most dangerous towns in Colombia. Several yeas ago, Barrancabermeja was controlled by the Marxist rebels. However, the town is now under the control of paramilitary called AUC (United Self-Defense Force of Colombia). AUC, allegedly cooperate with Colombian military forces, kills civilians who are suspected as a part of Marxist rebels or its sympathizer, but most of people are innocent. This photo story is about what I have seen in this town since 2003.
